Join Powers – We’re Hiring an Underground Utility Surveyor!
At Powers, we’re a fast-growing team of geospatial consultants providing:
- Measured surveys
- Underground utility detection
- 3D Revit models
for the architecture, construction, and civil engineering sectors.
We’re seeking a motivated Underground Utility Surveyor to join our utilities team. This role is ideal for someone looking to progress from an Assistant Underground Utility Surveyor.

Role Responsibilities
- Conduct large-scale underground utility detection surveys, compliant with PAS 128 standards.
- Demonstrate large topographical surveying skills (desirable).
- Deliver high-quality drawings aligned with project deliverables.
- Ensure on-time project completions, including adherence to specifications and deadlines.
- Mentor and support surveying apprentices within the business.
- Maintain full compliance with health, safety, and quality procedures.

Experience & Qualifications Required
Essential
- Minimum 4 years’ surveying experience, with proven ability to deliver complex underground utility detection and topographical surveys independently due to tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- N4ce
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment
- Cat/Canny & Genny (utility detection locator)
- Leica Total Stations
- Strong project management skills, including accurate prioritisation, meeting tight deadlines, and managing project complexity.
- Demonstrated understanding of surveying commercials.
- Achived qualification: HNC or ONC (or equivalent industry experience) – Surveying-related or a discipline closely aligned to surveying.
- Educational attainment: 2 A Levels (or equivalent) & 5 GCSEs (grades A-C or equivalent/9-4) including:
- English (Grade 6 or above – equivalent recognised)
- Mathematics (Grade 6 or above – equivalent recognised).
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (Chartered level or [Associate Membership]).

- Attention to detail – outputs must meet strict Quality Assurance (QA) guidelines.
- Strong planning, organisation and time management, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in client-facing and team interactions.
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Strong team player, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Efficient decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Additional Requirements
- Full and valid driving licence (essential).
- Valid CSCS or ECTIB card.
- Physically fit – capable of extensive walking, surveying, and hazardous site conditions (outdoors, all-weather).
