Tokyo Marine Kiln – Underwriter – Portfolio Solutions
About the Role
Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) is seeking an Underwriter – Portfolio Solutions to join our Portfolio Solutions division. This role involves structuring and underwriting portfolio-based deals across multiple lines of business and geographies, operating at the intersection of underwriting, data, and strategy.
Reporting to the Divisional Head of Innovation and Portfolio Underwriting, the successful candidate will:
- Underwrite and structure portfolio-based insurance solutions across diverse risks and distribution channels
- Collaborate with actuaries and analysts to assess client portfolios using actuarial and statistical techniques to support underwriting decisions
- Develop a pipeline of potential deals through engagement with brokers and clients
- Monitor portfolio performance, identifying trends, aggregations, and optimisation opportunities
- Work closely with internal teams (actuarial, exposure management, claims, compliance) to deliver robust solutions

Key Responsibilities
- Structure and underwrite complex portfolio-based insurance solutions
- Utilise data analysis, statistical modelling, and actuarial insights to inform decision-making
- Engage with brokers, MGAs, clients, and digital platforms to expand deal opportunities
- Analyse portfolio performance and devise strategic improvements
- Foster cross-functional collaboration for seamless delivery of solutions
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Demonstrable experience in the Lloyd’s market within underwriting
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with a clear understanding of portfolio dynamics
- Proficient in interpreting data, predictive modelling, and complex deal structures
- Proactive and adaptable mindset with excellent stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team-based environment
