We are hiring an Underwriter – Casualty to join our regional underwriting team in Bristol, specialising in UK-based clients.
Key Focus Areas
- Underwrite successful Contractors Combined portfolio, including Casualty, Contractors All Risks, and Property business across diverse sectors
- Underwrite UK and multinational business where applicable

Your Role and Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Underwrite business within delegated authority and company plans
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and underwriting standards
- Manage reinsurance requirements to support business objectives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, customers, and internal teams
- Review portfolio performance, recommending improvements
- Conduct audits of cover holder files and systems
- Collaborate across teams to share strategy and best practices
- Champion QBE’s reputation as an innovative, risk-focused partner
- Work cross-functionally to deliver customer-centric solutions
About You (Requirements & Experience)
Essential
- Proven experience in underwriting commercial casualty lines, particularly Contractors Combined
- Strong understanding of current market trends affecting casualty and contractors’ insurance
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills
- Highly organised, with a clear ability to prioritise tasks for maximum impact
- Customer-centric approach, with adaptability to diverse sectors
Desirable
- Experience in DUA facilities and auditing
- Progression towards CII qualifications
