The Opportunity
Join our regional underwriting team in Bristol and:
- Lead the progression of our successful Contractors Combined portfolio
- Drive Casualty, Contractors All Risks, and general liability business for UK-based clients
- Explore underwriting opportunities across global markets
- Work in a collaborative environment where expertise drives development

Essential Responsibilities
- Compliance & Strategy: Underwrite business within set plans and authority while ensuring legal, regulatory, and underwriting standards are met
- Reinsurance Support: Engage with reinsurance to align with business goals
- Stakeholder Relations: Foster broker, client, and internal team relationships for seamless workflow
- Financial Oversight: Review portfolio performance, identify strengths, and implement improvements
- Internal Governance: Perform cover holder file audits and systems checks
- Group Coordination: Collaborate across departments to share insurance strategies and best practices
- Customer Empathy: Champion innovative risk partner solutions with a human-focused approach

Key Requirements
Technical Expertise
✅ Commercial Underwriting Focus:
- Proven track record in contractors’ liabilities, casualty, and all-risk policies
- Strong grasp of market trends affecting these classes
✅ Accountability & Compliance:
- Experience in adhering to underwriting guidelines, premium/cat modelling, or risk systems
Soft Skills & Attributes
✅ Relationship-Driven: Excels at communication and negotiation with brokers, clients, and colleagues
✅ Disciplined & Pragmatic:
- Highly organised with sharp prioritisation skills
- Maintains decisive decision-making under tight deadlines
✅ Proactive Mentality:
- Customer-centric approach with problem-solving agility
Desirable Qualifications
- Progress towards CII qualifications (ACII, FCII, or other) builds credibility
- Familiarity with DUA (Directruptor Underwriting Arrange) or internal auditing processes is advantageous
