Senior Underwriter – Bridging Finance | Specialist Property Lender

About the Company

With lending volumes growing, they seek an innovative and detail-oriented Underwriter to strengthen their team, taking ownership of deals from enquiry to completion while fostering strong relationships with introducers.


🚀 The Opportunity

This is a hands-on, impactful role where you’ll:

✔ Own end-to-end bridging transactions, from initial enquiry to successful redemption. ✔ Work collaboratively with brokers, borrowers, valuers, solicitors, and internal stakeholders to assess, structure, and deliver deals efficiently. ✔ Thrive in a fast-moving, specialist lending environment, making commercial decisions while balancing risk and opportunity. ✔ Build long-term broker relationships and deliver a seamless, high-quality service experience.

▶ Key Responsibilities

Deal Assessment & Underwriting

  • Review and underwrite bridging loan applications, evaluating:
    • Property security and exit strategies
    • Borrower financial profiles
    • Risks against policy frameworks
  • Structure deals with actionable recommendations for approval.
  • Identify and mitigate risks per transaction.

End-to-End Case Management

  • Manage complete case workflows, from initial enquiry through to:
    • Valuation coordination
    • Legal compliance (solicitor liaisons)
    • Client communications
    • Final drawdown execution
  • Monitor all conditions rigorously before delivery.
  • Maintain clear, auditable case documentation.

Post-Completion Management

  • Track live cases and portfolio performance.
  • Handle redemptions, extensions, and variations proactively.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with brokers and borrowers.
  • Escalate risks and resolve exceptions efficiently.

Broker & Relationship Management

  • Nurture strong broker partnerships by delivering outstanding service.
  • Act as a trusted lending advisor to external stakeholders.
  • Upsell and secure repeat business through consistent engagement.

✅ Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience underwriting bridging finance, development finance, specialist mortgages, or secured lending.
  • Deep knowledge of property-backed financing mechanics.
  • Track record managing cases through full cycle (enquiry → completion).
  • Ability to balance risk assessment with commercial pragmatism.
  • Excellent communication & networking skills—both internally and externally.
  • Hyper-organisational, detail-driven with utmost professionalism.

Desirable

  • Experience in both pre- and post-completion processes.
  • Direct exposure to the bridging finance sector.
  • Working with brokers and property professionals (valuers, conveyancers, etc.).
  • Hold CeMAP or equivalent financial services qualifications.
