The Opportunity
QBE’s cyber underwriting program is a key priority, having seen substantial growth and further exciting development plans ahead.
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Underwriter to join our regional team in Manchester, covering both new and existing business across a broad range of clients. This broker-facing role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape and grow the portfolio, pursue emerging business opportunities, and develop a strong underwriting career at QBE.

Your Role
As Cyber Underwriter, your responsibilities will include:
- Underwriting core outcomes: Implement strategies and authorisations aligned to business plans and risk objectives, ensuring sustainability and growth.
- Strategic stakeholder relations: Cultivate partnerships with customers, brokers, and internal teams, fostering influence to meet financial targets.
- Risk & compliance adherence: Stay aligned with reinsurance policies, regulatory obligations, and underwriting standards to optimise outcomes.
- Knowledge & innovation: Leverage your expertise to develop strategies, share best practices, and provide thought leadership.
- Reputation building: Promote QBE’s reputation, brand, and professional standards internally and externally.
- Market awareness: Stay ahead of industry trends and economic shifts to inform data-driven decisions.

About You
- Cyber underwriting experience: Proven proficiency in insurance cyber risk assessment, policy design, and claims handling.
- Commercial acumen: Robust understanding of strategic profitability factors, enabling long-term portfolio growth decisions.
- Leadership capabilities:
- Strong interpersonal, prioritisation, and organisational skills
- Demonstrable ability to lead by example, delegate tasks, and negotiate effectively
- Technical proficiencies:
- Expertise in Excel, underwriting tools, and data analytics to evaluate modelled results.
