About The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the London-based US Lawyers' underwriting team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. This role offers an opportunity to join a dynamic team and offers development potential.

You will be responsible for underwriting complex Lawyers Professional Liability (LPL) risks for top‑tier law firms, with a strong focus on attention to detail, broker engagement, and strategic risk selection.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a sophisticated Large Lawyers portfolio, partnering closely with claims, risk management, and actuarial colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze submissions to assess insurability, coverage, structure, and risk quality for large, often international, law firms. Review claims history and work on pricing with actuarial teams. Negotiate proposals and prepare quotations. Serve as an underwriting contact for key global brokers and major law firm clients. Lead or participate in underwriting meetings, renewals, and strategic discussions with insurers and brokers. Support relationship management and contribute to long‑term client and broker partnerships. Contribute market insights on trends affecting large law firms, including emerging practice risks, jurisdictional trends, and claim developments.

About The Team

You will be joining the London-based US Lawyers' underwriting team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions — a dynamic, collaborative group dedicated to delivering exceptional underwriting on some of the most complex and high-profile legal professional liability risks in the market. The team offers strong technical support, a global perspective, and real opportunities for professional development and growth.

About You

You are a motivated, detail-oriented underwriting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment. You bring strong analytical capabilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and global brokers. You are equally comfortable working independently and collaborating within a diverse, global team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
