Job Summary
This position is responsible for underwriting a diverse book of business, employing the methods necessary to:
- Meet projected profitability
- Achieve GWP (Gross Written Premium) and expense goals
- Manage and grow the overall portfolio of the LATAM business within appropriate underwriting discipline/guidelines
- Market and service existing and potential insureds
Duties and Responsibilities
Core Underwriting Functions

Perform general underwriting functions, including:
- Submission review
- Pricing analysis
- Setting terms and conditions
- Quote/binder/invoice authorizations

Ensure timely and correct issuance of bound policies.

Craft endorsement wordings for legal authorization.

Provide direction to the Underwriting Support Assistant for:
- Timely processing of policy/endorsement wordings
Account and Claims Liaison
- Perform referrals with VP Casualty and SVP Casualty as required.
- Maintain underwriting files and reporting systems according to guidelines.
- Consult with the Actuarial Department for:
- Specific account pricing when appropriate.

Liaise with the Claims Department on:
- Specific claim matters
- Market claim concerns

Stay current with industry issues and developments.
Professional Development & Growth
- Assist in training underwriting and support staff.
- Complete project work as required.
- Plan and monitor the business portfolio.
- Travel to meetings throughout Ireland and Europe as necessary.
Qualifications & Criteria
Experience & Knowledge
- 5 years’ experience underwriting Casulaty accounts in the LATAM market.
- Preferred: Spanish-speaking.
- Basic knowledge of underwriting Property accounts.
- Strong understanding of:
- Standard market policy and endorsement wordings.
Skills
- Marketing, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Third-level (university) qualification highly desirable.
- Professional Insurance Designation (ACII/FCII) desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to:
- Prioritize work effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with strong teamwork ability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good knowledge of technical rating tools.
