We are looking for a competitive professional to join our origination team in Tokyo who wants to be a part of our Munich Re Markets Division and use their skills, experience and ideas to drive the growth and expansion of the successful business at Munich Re.

Munich Re Markets Division

Munich Re Markets Division aims to provide clients with bespoke reinsurance solutions to solve insurance and financial markets issues. We differentiate ourselves by our strong structuring capabilities and robust hedging platform, as well as our solution-oriented approach.

We have been doing business in Japan for more than 10 years and Japan will continue to be an important market for us. We are now looking for an originator who helps drive our business development as well as transaction execution. This role will report to the Head of Munich Re Markets Division.

Principal Responsibilities:

Participation in Deal Teams:

  • Interexchange and co-ordination with deal team members internally
  • Interexchange with clients’ project team members
  • Performance and review of analysis, including technical calculation

Business Development

  • Identification and elaboration of clients‘ needs
  • Collaboration with other colleagues to develop solutions to address those needs
  • Compilation of presentation material
  • Presentation of solutions to clients
  • Collection of market intelligence and convey to the team timely

Relationship Building

  • Continuous maintenance of relationship to clients’ project team members
  • Build up and maintain relationships with clients

Basic Qualifications:

  • Fluent business Japanese speaker (native level)
  • About 5-10 years of work experience in one or more of the following roles:
    • Investment banking particularly financial markets in sales or structuring
    • Life insurance in product development or risk management
    • Consultancy or auditing
  • Actuarial training and/or capital market knowledge and understanding of financial products
  • Ability and willingness to understand technical calculation
  • Profound life Insurance market understanding, particularly with regards to market risks
  • Ability to network and possess excellent analytical and conceptual skills
  • Very good presentation skills, particularly for technical materials
  • Motivation to work in a multicultural team
  • Creativity
  • Independent, reliable, and consistent working style, but still a good team player
