Job Purpose

This position is responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of renewable energy risks, driving profitable growth and supporting the strategic development of the GX Renewables portfolio. The role involves evaluating complex risks across technologies such as onshore wind, solar, and energy storage while working closely with brokers and internal stakeholders to deliver competitive and tailored insurance solutions. The role will contribute to pricing discipline, portfolio optimisation, and business development while ensuring adherence to TMHCC underwriting guidelines and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite renewable energy risks in line with underwriting authority and appetite
  • Assess and price new business and renewals to ensure profitability and compliance with guidelines
  • Analyse complex risk exposures across renewable energy assets including wind, solar and energy storage
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers to support business development
  • Negotiate terms, pricing and conditions to achieve commercially sound outcomes
  • Monitor and manage portfolio performance identifying trends and exposures
  • Prepare and issue accurate quotes, endorsements and policy documentation
  • Maintain high quality underwriting data within internal systems
  • Collaborate with actuarial, claims and operations teams to support decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance and regulatory requirements

Skills and Experience Specification

Essential

  • Proven underwriting experience within renewable energy
  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, pricing and risk assessment
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies including wind, solar and energy storage
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage a portfolio in a fast-paced environment

Desirable

  • Progress toward or completion of ACII or similar qualification
  • Experience working on international renewable energy risks
  • Exposure to portfolio monitoring and reporting
