Underwriting Auditor – Individual Protection Business

About the Role
We’re seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Underwriting Auditor to join our Claims, Underwriting and DQM team. Based in Hove (One City Park), this role will be instrumental in strengthening underwriting quality, ensuring consistency across decisions, and supporting outstanding customer outcomes within our Individual Protection business.
Your work will be collaborative and impactful: you’ll liaise closely with underwriting teams and stakeholders to fine-tune processes, uncover opportunities, and uphold the highest standards—all while contributing to a culture that values inclusion, growth, and meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of customer underwriting decisions, assessing risk, consistency, and quality.
- Case Review: Analyse medical underwriting cases for Individual Protection products, evaluating decision outcomes for compliance and accuracy.
- Data-Driven Insights: Record audit findings, support continuous improvement, and identify trends, risks, and efficiency opportunities through data analysis.
- Reporting & Recommendations: Produce and share clear, actionable reports on audit outcomes and strategic recommendations for teams.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with underwriting teams, reinforcing open communication and aligning processes with audit objectives.
- Stakeholder Interaction: Support internal reinsurance and compliance audits, and follow up on corrective actions arising from findings.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with underwriting guidelines, tools, and industry developments to ensure robust decision-making.

Requirements
We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate:

Experience and Expertise:
- Proven experience in protection underwriting or underwriting audit, preferably in medically underwritten policies.
- Strong understanding of underwriting principles, processes, and decision-making frameworks.

- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify performance trends and risks.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high-accuracy and consistency in audits.

Communication & Influence:
- Savvy at articulating findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a constructive, influential manner.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and build trust-based relationships.

Technical Literacy:
- Familiarity with underwriting-related systems and tools for data capture, reporting, and analysis.
