Underwriting Transformation Product Owner
Shape the future of commercial underwriting through a major business transformation programme
Join a newly formed team delivering a strategically important initiative (implementing a new agency and underwriting workbench system) with significant business impact to the way we deliver our underwriting capability
Homeworking position, offered on 18-month fixed term contract basis
About the role
We’re looking for a Product Owner to join NFU Mutual’s Underwriting Transformation team on an 18-month fixed term contract. You’ll represent business leadership within a major transformation programme, focused on creating a single commercial underwriting workbench, helping to bring together multiple systems into one unified platform.
You’ll own the scope definition and prioritisation of requirements, maintain the product backlog and help ensure solutions deliver maximum value in line with business strategy. Working closely with subject matter experts, agile delivery teams and external partners, you’ll provide direction, resolve challenges and influence product development across releases and sprint cycles.
This opportunity offers the chance to join a new team supporting a highly important programme that will help shape the future workflow for commercial lines underwriting and support future business growth.
This contract role will be offered on a home-working basis. If any travel to our offices for key meetings is required during the contract, these will be fully expensed.
About you
You’re a confident and collaborative professional with strong stakeholder management skills. You communicate effectively, manage change positively, and make informed decisions while balancing competing priorities. You build productive working relationships, influence outcomes, work effectively as part of a wider team and maintain focus on delivering successful business outcomes.
To join NFU Mutual, you’ll also bring:
- Experience of undertaking underwriting workbench implementations within commercial insurance environments - please highlight this experience on your CV!
- Understanding of Agile development methodology and experience of operating in an Agile development environment
- Relevant professional insurance, underwriting or financial services qualification, or equivalent practical experience
- Knowledge of end-to-end General Insurance processes and experience supporting major systems change initiatives
- Experience managing stakeholders and third-party suppliers to achieve successful delivery outcomes
- Relevant professional insurance, underwriting, or financial services qualification, such as ACII would be highly desirable, as would Prince 2 qualification
