About the Role
As Unit Manager of the Private Rented Sector (PRS) Enforcement Team, you will:
- Lead a dedicated team during a transformative period for housing enforcement
- Provide direction, oversight, and expertise across private rented sector activity
- Embed the Renters’ Rights Act into operational practice, delivering consistent, lawful, and high-quality service

Key Responsibilities
- Lead & manage a team dedicated to housing enforcement
- Embed legislation (e.g., Renters’ Rights Act) into daily operations
- Monitor performance & risk, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks
- Foster strong stakeholder relationships (internal & external partners)
- Contribute to policy development & service improvements
- Provide guidance, development, and leadership to the team
- Work with flexibility, accommodating occasional evening shifts when required

About You
Essential
- Proven housing enforcement or regulatory experience* (council or statutory enforcement preferred)
- Deep understanding of the Renters’ Rights Act and its practical implications
- Ability to translate legislation into operational strategy
- Strong performance management & risk assessment skills
- Confident stakeholder relationship-building and communication
- Willingness to transform into a leadership role (experience not mandatory but advantageous)
- Motivation to develop others
Desirable
- Formal management experience
- Knowledge of disclosure, disclosure barring, or safeguarding frameworks
- Experience working in Local Government settings
- Interest in learning & growth pursuit (training schemes, leadership development)
