Unit4 Technical Developer Location: London (on-site) Salary: £70,000-75,000
About the Role
This role is responsible for managing, designing, developing, and delivering a wide range of technical solutions, including reports, integrations, extensions, and innovative new capabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to gather requirements, evaluate solution options, and recommend the most appropriate technologies based on business needs. They will analyse the root causes of defects, implement robust fixes, and develop user story‑based testing strategies to ensure high‑quality, accurate outcomes. In addition to maintaining existing products and ensuring compatibility with the latest software releases, the Technical Developer will identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and enhance current solutions. The role also offers the chance to explore emerging technologies and contribute to the development of sustainable, scalable new products. Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deliver technical solutions including reports, integrations, extensions, and enhancements. Collaborate with clients to gather and interpret requirements, ensuring solutions align with business needs. Evaluate solution options and provide clear, well‑reasoned technical recommendations. Investigate defects, identify root causes, and deliver comprehensive, sustainable fixes. Develop and execute user story‑based testing strategies to ensure accuracy and quality. Maintain existing products and ensure compatibility with new software releases. Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve current solutions to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability. Explore emerging technologies and contribute to the development of new sustainable and scalable products. Communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences. Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams. Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high‑quality outcomes under pressure.

Essential Skills and Experience
Strong proficiency in SQL. Good understanding of Unit4 ERP. Knowledge of the Unit4 ERP dataset/data dictionary. Experience creating and maintaining reports using composite RERX files (Xtra, Excelerator). Expertise in generating flat files (XML, CSV) using Report Engine. Experience with report conversions (ARC to RERX). Familiarity with Unit4 ERP import routines (e.g., GL07, CS15, LG04) using XML and fixed‑length fields. Knowledge of AG16 and ASQL. Experience working with Unit4 REST and SOAP web services. Skilled in JSON and XML. Familiarity with Visual Basic (highly desirable). Ability to explain technical solutions to non‑technical audiences. Strong relationship‑building skills with clients and stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organisational and time‑management abilities. Creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic approach to problem‑solving. Solid understanding of ERP software and business applications. Ability to meet targets and deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
