University Guarantor Officer

Are you passionate about supporting students and helping them access safe, affordable private rented accommodation?

We're looking for a University Guarantor Officer to deliver our in-house Guarantor Scheme, working with students, landlords and colleagues across the University to provide a fair, student-centred service while safeguarding the University's financial interests.

About The Role

As our University Guarantor Officer, you will:

  • Deliver the day-to-day administration of the University's Guarantor Scheme, ensuring applications are processed accurately and in line with policy.
  • Provide clear advice to students on guarantor eligibility, tenancy responsibilities and private renting.
  • Deliver early intervention support for students at risk of rent arrears, working with Student Money Advice and other specialist services.
  • Liaise with landlords and letting agents, validating tenancy agreements and property compliance documentation while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Monitor financial exposure, arrears and repayments, contributing to reporting, forecasting and risk management.
  • Ensure the scheme operates in line with housing legislation, consumer protection requirements, GDPR and University policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, guidance and systems to enhance the student and stakeholder experience.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Campus Services, Student Support, Wellbeing and Student Success to provide joined-up support, particularly for estranged, care-experienced and refugee or asylum-seeking students.

This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work closely with the Student Accommodation Revenue & Capacity Manager and colleagues across Campus Services, Student Support, Wellbeing, Student Money Advice and external accommodation partners to deliver a fair, student-centred and financially responsible guarantor service.

This is a part-time, fixed-term position for 2 years, working 18 hours per week over four days (4.5 hours per day).

About You

You will:

  • Have experience in student support, housing, customer service or a similar administrative environment.
  • Be confident interpreting tenancy documents and understanding private rental processes.
  • Be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy during busy periods.
  • Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to students, landlords and colleagues.
  • Be confident handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Be able to work independently, use initiative and resolve issues while knowing when to seek advice.
  • Ideally have knowledge of housing legislation, guarantor responsibilities, consumer rights, compliance, financial processes or service improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
