Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable and skilled Freelance On-Site IT Support Technician to provide part-time technical support with a strong focus on networking. The role involves troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of network infrastructure and end-user devices at client locations. This position is ideal for a self-motivated technician who can work independently while maintaining professional communication with clients and remote support teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site IT support and troubleshooting for network and connectivity issues
- Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Diagnose and resolve network performance issues such as packet loss, latency, and connectivity disruptions
- Perform structured cabling checks, patching, and basic cable management
- Assist with deployment and configuration of VoIP phones and related networking requirements
- Support workstation setup, hardware replacement, and peripheral installations when required
- Coordinate with remote engineers and service desks during troubleshooting sessions
- Perform basic network testing and document findings
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and reporting after each visit
- Follow security best practices and client IT policies during on-site work

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- Experience with routers, managed switches, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and NAT
- Familiarity with firewall configuration and basic network security concepts
- Experience troubleshooting wired and wireless network environments
- Knowledge of VoIP networking requirements (QoS, SIP, latency troubleshooting)
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve technical issues on-site
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to document work clearly and provide status updates

Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent networking experience
- Experience supporting SMB or enterprise network environments
- Familiarity with remote support tools and ticketing systems
- Experience working as a field or freelance IT technician
Work Schedule
- Part-time, on-demand assignments
- Flexible hours based on project or support requirements
- Occasional after-hours or emergency support may be required
Compensation
- USD 25 GBP per hour (freelance/contract basis)
- Payment based on approved hours worked per assignment
