Job Description
Team: Consular & Document Practice EMEA (CADP)
Location: Sydney
If you are a US qualified Attorney in the UK and are interested in relocating to Sydney, Australia, we would love to hear from you.
The Role
In this role you will be working in a fast-paced environment, providing US legal advice in connection with US Consular Services.
More specifically, you will provide legal advice to Fragomen offices in connection with US Consular Services (NIV and IV appointment preparation, troubleshooting and US citizen services) throughout the region.
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Communicate with clients and colleagues on complex Consular case matters, including refusal risks, processing trends, and criminal matters.
- Liaise with US Embassies and Consulates.
- Manage allocated client accounts and their active and inactive matters.
- Supervise the work of paralegal staff in record keeping and document preparation.
- Troubleshoot and establish case strategy.
- Review documents sent in by assignees and flag any issues to clients.
- Review documents drafted by Paralegals to ensure legal compliance and quality standards are met.
- Draft correspondence to clients on complex matters.
- Contribute to the Firm’s overall initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally.
- Displays professionalism, quality service, and a “positive” attitude to internal members and departments of the Firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, telephone, and in person.
The Team
The CADP team provides assistance with US consular and substantive immigration matters either as stand-alone services or part of a larger immigration application process. The team’s approach is designed to maximize efficiencies, ensure ownership of work, and to empower team members to design work practices to meet the expectations of their clients.
Essential Criteria
What we are looking for:
- Successful applicants will need to be a Member of a US State Bar Association and have experience with Business Immigration law.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

What To Expect

If shortlisted, you will be invited to participate in our interview process, which will consist of at least two stages, one of which will be conducted in-person. Depending on the role, you may also be required to complete a written assessment.
