US UK Tax Director

Senior Cross-Border Tax Manager

Location: London | Practice: Top 50 Accountancy Firm

About the Role

Join one of the UK’s top 50 accountancy practices as a Senior Cross-Border Tax Manager—leading and driving tax services for high-net-worth individuals, internationally mobile professionals, and cross-border businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of complex international clients, offering integrated UK and US tax compliance and advisory services for high-net-worth individuals, mobile employees, and cross-border businesses.
  • Specialize in cross-border tax, advising clients on matters including:
    • Double taxation relief
    • Foreign tax credits
    • Residency and domicile structuring
    • Expatriate taxation
    • Treaty interpretation and optimisation
  • Oversee tax return preparations, ensuring:
    • UK and US filings adhere to technical accuracy, regulatory requirements, and deadlines.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships, positioning the firm as a trusted tax adviser while identifying growth opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop junior tax professionals, enhancing their expertise in UK and US tax law through coaching, performance reviews, and training.
  • Drive business development, contributing to practice growth by:
    • Participating in networking initiatives.
    • Preparing high-quality proposals for cross-border engagements.
    • Collaborating with partners to win and deliver complex international projects.

Key Requirements

  • In-depth experience as a tax manager or equivalent in UK and international tax practice.
  • Strong technical knowledge of: double taxation, foreign tax credits, residency/domicile regimes, treaty interpretation, and expatriate taxation.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor tax professionals.
  • Exceptional client-facing skills, with experience in high-net-worth or multinational tax advisory.
  • Experience in business development within an accountancy firm preferred.
