Team Manager (Vegetation Management) – Permanent, Full Time, Onsite
Base Locations: Oxford, Andover, Swindon, Melksham
Salary: £45,452 – £54,311 + a range of benefits
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Onsite
SSE are looking for a Team Manager to lead their tree-cutting and vegetation management team across the region. In this critical role, you will take overall responsibility for all vegetation management operations, ensuring the safe and reliable functioning of the electricity network.
The Team Manager will oversee a team of 22 Surveyors and Utility Arborists, responsible for maintaining UK infrastructure—supporting planned and emergency vegetation work while delivering operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a programme of vegetation work using internal Surveyors and Utility Arborists, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Manage a large team of staff, ensuring they have the necessary tools, training, and PPE, along with unit-led permissions for vegetation clearing to carry out work safely.
- Lead safety engagements with the team and maintain an excellent safety culture, briefing staff on safety incidents and alerts.
- Work closely with the management team to drive innovation, implementing new ways of working to improve efficiency.
- Provide high-level customer service, addressing complaints and negotiating vegetation clearance near distribution networks.

Requirements
- Preferred experience in Arboriculture or Power Distribution industries.
- Strong commitment to safety, embedding best practices and adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage workloads efficiently across a large geographical area.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members to achieving outstanding performance.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
Note: Overnight shifts, travel, and occasional work away from home are unavoidable. A full and current UK driving licence is required for this role.
