Utility Arborist Team Manager
Team Manager (Vegetation Management) – Oxford, Andover, Swindon, Melksham
About the Role
Base Location: Oxford, Andover, Swindon, Melksham Salary: £45,452 - £54,311 + benefits Working Pattern: Permanent | Full-time | Onsite
We are seeking a Team Manager to lead our tree-cutting team across the region, overseeing all vegetation management activities in the area. As a key member of our operations team, you will ensure the safety, efficiency, and success of our 22 strong team of Surveyors and Utility Arborists, who keep the electricity network reliable while managing vegetation near power lines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering planned maintenance and ad-hoc work efficiently.
- Supporting your team’s safe and effective operation.
- Driving operational excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Delivery:
- Ensure work is completed on time and below budget, utilising internal staff resources effectively.
- Team Management:
- Oversee a team of Surveyors and Utility Arborists, providing them with tools, training, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for safe operations.
- Safety leadership: Regular safety engagements with staff, discussing safety incidents and alerts to uphold a strong safety culture.
- Operational Improvement:
- Collaborate with the management team to drive efficiencies, innovation, and new ways of working.
- Customer Service:
- Provide high-standard customer service, addressing complaints and liaising with stakeholders on vegetation management near power lines.

Requirements
- Industry Experience:
- Previous experience in ** Arboriculture, utility operations, or power distribution** strongly preferred.
- Safety Culture:
- A high regard for safety, with a commitment to upholding guidelines and embedding a zero-tolerance approach to risks.
- Organisational Skills:
- Excellent time management and prioritisation to plan work effectively across a large geographical area.
- Leadership Ability:
- Strong team leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop employees.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management:
- Strong communication and presentation skills for interacting with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Travel Requirement:
- Must be prepared to work away from home occasionally (due to site-based duties).
- A full and current UK driving licence is mandatory.
