UX Engineer - (Front-End / Design Systems)
London (King's Cross)
Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite (Tuesday–Thursday)
12-Month Contract
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced UX Engineer to join the Research team based in London.
This role sits at the intersection of UX Design and Front-End Engineering, where you'll help build intuitive, scalable user experiences while developing the technical foundations that enable designers and engineers to work more effectively together.
You'll collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Researchers, Designers, and Software Engineers to develop user-facing products, create reusable component systems, prototype new experiences, and build tooling that improves the design and development workflow.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strong front-end engineering skills with user-centred design thinking in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality user-facing interfaces and front-end experiences.
- Build scripts, plug-ins, and internal tools that improve design and engineering workflows.
- Partner with Designers, Product Managers, Researchers, and Engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Act as the technical bridge between Design and Engineering teams.
- Build and maintain reusable UI components and scalable component systems.
- Contribute to computational design systems by developing tooling and technical solutions.
- Prototype new user experiences and evaluate emerging front-end technologies.
- Write clean, maintainable code to support product development and user experience improvements.
- Identify UX and technical challenges while recommending innovative solutions.
- Contribute technical expertise during project planning and design discussions.
- Continuously iterate on designs through prototyping, testing, and stakeholder feedback.

Required Skills & Experience
Front-End Engineering
- 4+ years' experience in UX Engineering, Front-End Development, Technical UX Design, or Design Engineering.
- Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS skills.
- Experience developing reusable UI components and scalable front-end systems.
- Experience writing scripts, plug-ins, automation tools, or internal developer tooling.
UX & Product Design
- Strong understanding of UX principles and user-centred design.
- Experience with prototyping and technical exploration.
- Knowledge of design systems and component-based design.
- Experience creating accessible and inclusive digital experiences.
- Strong systems thinking and interaction design knowledge.

- Experience working alongside Product Managers, UX Researchers, Designers, and Software Engineers.
- Comfortable acting as the technical liaison between Design and Engineering.
