MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Experience UX Designer (Consultant) at Kainos, you will:

  • Deliver intuitive service experiences based on user needs and design principles.
  • Advocate for design thinking and service design.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a small team, with a focus on employee performance and career development.
  • Lead, alongside our growing Experience Design capability, in creating exemplary digital services that have a positive, measurable impact on millions.

WORKING CONTEXT / CULTURE

You will work in a supportive, collaborative, and passionate environment. Your focus is on user-centred design, where your insights help shape products that make a real difference.

MINIMUM (ESSENTIAL) REQUIREMENTS

  • Define design strategy and communicate its benefits to senior stakeholders.
  • Identify and design ideation methods suited to business and project needs.
  • Use journey mapping to support business and customer recommendations.
  • Co-ordinate the production of prototypes tailored to user testing and development.
  • Conduct usability testing; integrate research into design strategy.
  • Collaborate in creating information architecture (IA) based on analysis and research.
  • Champion and enforce accessibility and AD (Accessibility Design) standards.
  • Guide teams and stakeholders in best practices for User-Centred Design (UCD) across project lifecycles.
  • Mentor junior team members and represent UX design within Kainos.
  • Demonstrate experience in managing, coaching, and developing team members, as we believe in people growth.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience in research, including assisting with or conducting research and analysing findings to uncover content needs.
  • Background in a full-service digital agency environment.
  • Active participation in relevant community groups (e.g., online forums, conference speaking).
