Role Summary

Aubay UK is seeking an experienced UX / UI Product Designer to support the design and delivery of user-centric digital products within complex trading and operational environments.

This role will be responsible for driving design activities across the full product lifecycle, from user research and discovery through to solution delivery and developer handoff. Working closely with business stakeholders, traders, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will translate complex business challenges into intuitive, efficient, and accessible user experiences.

The ideal candidate will combine strong UX thinking, UI design expertise, and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience designing data-rich applications, workflow-based platforms, and enterprise products. They will be comfortable operating in fast-paced environments where accuracy, usability, and collaboration are critical to business success.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in UX, UI, or Product Design
  • Exposure to trading, risk, financial services, commodity trading, or energy trading environments
  • Experience delivering the full design lifecycle, from discovery through delivery
  • Strong expertise in UX research, user-centred design, and Design Thinking methodologies
  • Proficiency in Figma, FigJam, prototyping, and design system management
  • Experience producing user journeys, process flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating complex problem-solving and design impact
  • Experience facilitating workshops, design sessions, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Strong understanding of usability, accessibility, and WCAG principles
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and user validation activities
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience designing enterprise platforms, operational systems, or workflow-based applications
  • Experience designing data-rich dashboards and high-density user interfaces
  • Understanding of complex business processes, system integrations, and service design
  • Experience working within Agile product delivery environments
  • Knowledge of ISO 9241 usability principles
  • Experience mentoring junior designers and contributing to design best practices
  • Familiarity with design governance, accessibility reviews, and design quality frameworks

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead UX and UI design activities across discovery, definition, and delivery phases
  • Conduct user research to understand user needs, behaviours, pain points, and opportunities
  • Create journey maps, service blueprints, user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes
  • Facilitate workshops, co-design sessions, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, developers, and end users
  • Translate complex business requirements into intuitive and effective user experiences
  • Conduct usability testing and incorporate findings into design improvements
  • Ensure designs meet usability, accessibility, and design quality standards
  • Support developer handoff and implementation activities throughout delivery
  • Contribute to and maintain design systems, patterns, and design standards
  • Balance user needs with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and technical constraints
  • Analyse existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve user efficiency and effectiveness
  • Build an understanding of trading and operational processes to inform design decisions
  • Support junior team members through mentoring, feedback, and collaborative working
  • Promote continuous improvement in design practices, methodologies, and team ways of working
