Role Overview

The Vaccination Practitioner will provide specialist clinical expertise to support the safe and effective delivery of inpatient seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccination programmes across University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust sites. The post holder will independently assess patient eligibility, obtain informed consent, manage clinical risk, administer vaccinations in accordance with authorised Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and national immunisation guidance, and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, the post holder will support the delivery of a high-quality vaccination service that improves vaccine uptake, reduces preventable illness and contributes to positive patient outcomes. The role may contribute towards wider infection prevention initiatives where appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient eligibility, identify contraindications, clinical risks, obtain informed consent and administer vaccinations in accordance with authorised Patient Group Directions (PGDs), commissioned service requirements and national immunisation guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with ward teams, medical staff, pharmacy, infection prevention and control teams and other multidisciplinary colleagues to identify eligible patients and maximise opportunities for vaccination.
  • Provide evidence-based information and advice to patients and carers to support informed decision making and improve vaccine uptake.
  • Ensure responsibility for vaccine preparation, cold chain management, accurate clinical documentation and reporting using approved electronic systems, including NHS Record a Vaccination Service (RAVS).
  • Ensure compliance with national guidance, PGD requirements, Trust policies and governance processes.
  • Contribute to audit, quality improvement, service evaluation and assurance activities and may support wider Trust vaccination, immunisation and infection prevention initiatives, including peer vaccination programmes, where appropriately trained and service requirements permit.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
