Job Title: Valve Lead - CON60058/CON60059

Location: Hinkley Point C

Contract Type: Permanent

Start Date: TBC

Role Details

The MEH Valve Engineer is responsible for the correct identification and selection, installation and maintenance of valves used in pipe installation systems. The role ensures that all valve systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. Support the Area and Building Leads, and Construction Engineers in the day-to-day construction planning, engineering, and works progression. Utilising the 16WLA, ensuring material deliveries are known and is documentation is in place. Accountable to the delivery Engineering Manager managing valve installation in line with pipework install program. Engage with the pre-construction and constructability process collaborating with the discipline and building engineers as required to facilitate sequencing of installation that maximises efficiency. Schedule adherence aligned to the pipework installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identification of appropriate valve types (e.g., ball, gate, globe, butterfly, control valves)
  • Prepare and collate technical datasheets, drawings, and documentation
  • Oversee installation of valves in piping systems
  • Support commissioning and pressure testing activities
  • Ensure proper alignment, fit, and operational readiness
  • Inspect and diagnose valve faults, leaks, or failures
  • Plan preventive and corrective maintenance schedules
  • Recommend repairs, replacements, or upgrades
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes (e.g., API, ASME, ISO, BS)
  • Maintain safety and environmental standards
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation
  • Work closely with mechanical and planning teams, at site and MLC1

Key Requirements

  • Degree in relevant construction discipline or 10 years’ experience in a site construction management role
  • Experience in valve engineering, piping systems, or process industries
  • Knowledge of valve types, materials, and actuation systems
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • CCNSG Safety Passport (Or MAPS)
  • Capable of obtaining security clearance of BPSS or higher.
  • Proven experience or safely delivering large scale construction or engineering projects including working at a management level of authority. Experience in the heavy industry or nuclear sectors is beneficial as is experience in working with Joint Ventures.
