Principle Accountabilities

  • Conduct regular customer visits nationwide to maintain relationships and identify new areas for development
  • Provide technical sales advice and upselling while on customer sites
  • Take overall ownership of jobs, from receipt of enquiry, creating MMR, costing and pricing, ensuring POs are in place, liaising with workforce management regarding job planning and progress, and managing ongoing job costs
  • Engage and communicate with support functions, including Engineering and Service Line departments
  • Ensure all jobs are completed to a high standard, obtaining regular feedback from customers to identify areas for improvement
  • Perform hands-on valve technician duties, including:
    • Inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of valves on-site
    • Dismantling, cleaning, and reassembling valves to technical specifications
    • Replacing or refurbishing faulty components
    • Conducting pressure tests and functional checks to ensure valves meet operational standards
    • Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and hydraulic valve issues
    • Completing detailed service reports and compliance documentation
  • Support operational requirements, balancing supervision and hands-on work as needed
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the business to ensure successful completion of jobs
  • Collaborate closely with all UK Supervisors
  • Responsible for driving revenue in the area and reporting into the Operations Manager’s Weekly Forecasting
  • Line management of first-line Valve Technicians, including approving working hours, demonstrating task instructions, and measuring performance
  • Champion and drive technician adherence to safety compliance paperwork and documentation
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety at all times

Skills And Knowledge Required

  • Extensive technical knowledge and expertise within the Valve Industry (essential)
  • Proven hands-on experience performing valve maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
  • Full UK Driving License – extensive travel to customer sites across the UK is required
  • Awareness of, and willingness to work towards, Health and Safety and QA standards
  • Supervisory and leadership experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and meet deadlines
  • Commercial awareness

Working Conditions

  • Mix of office-based work, customer site visits, and hands-on valve technician tasks
  • Travel throughout the UK, including extended periods away from home
  • Customer site visits may sometimes be in challenging or remote conditions
