I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We require hourly paid Invigilators to carry out invigilation mostly within our Chesterfield College campus, occasionally in our Derby campus, and also in some workplace settings. The role requires you to provide a professional examination service, protecting the integrity of the exam and ensuring a calm environment to give candidates the best possible opportunity to be successful in their exams.

You will be required to support both paper based and online examination processes and it is preferable that you are willing to travel to a variety of locations (with expenses being reimbursed). You must follow the required guidelines/regulations for the integrity and security of examinations and procedures during invigilation.

To succeed in this role you will need experience of a customer facing role, ideally from an examination environment. You will need strong communication and customer service skills, an ability to sometimes deal with difficult situations and be able to work under pressure. You must have initiative, strong attention to detail and first class administrative skills.
