Team Overview
The Fiscal Solutions team comprises over 25 indirect tax compliance specialists with expertise across a wide range of international jurisdictions. We currently provide VAT return filing and supplementary reporting services in 39 countries. Senior team members play a key role in shaping service delivery, maintaining technical standards, and supporting the development of junior colleagues, while acting as trusted advisors to clients navigating complex cross-border VAT requirements.
Role Overview
The VAT Compliance Specialist provides essential support to the Fiscal Solutions team, ensuring that cross-border VAT returns for a designated portfolio of clients are accurately prepared, processed, and filed in accordance with local statutory deadlines.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage a portfolio and liaise directly with clients as required.
- Act as the main point of contact for designated clients and overseas agents.
- Obtain all relevant documentation from clients ahead of submission deadlines.
- Prepare and/or review VAT workings and analyse financial data, including reviewing invoices and import documentation to ensure compliance.
- Calculate VAT liabilities for each filing period and advise clients of any VAT payable or refundable amounts arising from VAT returns.
- Submit documentation to, and liaise directly with, overseas tax authorities.
- Manage deadlines and contractual scope to ensure compliance obligations are met.
- Update the work tracker daily to ensure management has accurate and up-to-date information.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, agents, tax authorities, and other suppliers.
- Draft client communications, including responses to queries and requests for data clarification.
- Complete work allocated by senior team members in line with agreed work plans and schedules.
- Support Client Managers with ad hoc requests.
- Contribute to internal projects and support the wider team.
- Maintain and develop VAT technical knowledge.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a client-facing environment
- Prior experience of International VAT (UK / EU)
- Ability to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and solve problems.
- A fast learner with a proactive approach to development.
- Competent use of the MS Office suite, with intermediate skills in Excel, Word and Outlook
- Proficiency in a second European language (desirable)
