What do the team do?
The Tax department works with clients across a broad spectrum, from high net worth individuals through to large corporates and not-for-profit entities. They have an international presence and offer compliance services for complex clients through to delivering exciting projects of an advisory nature.
Within our Tax department we have an established team of VAT specialists. They undertake project advisory work and also work in conjunction with other areas of the business such as the Outsourcing and Audit teams on more complex compliance matters. Some of the typical sectors our clients operate in include property and construction, professional and financial services, charities, academies and other education providers, manufacturers operating in the UK and overseas, e-commerce, international goods movements, health providers and telecoms providers.

What will I be doing?
As a VAT Director you will have ownership of the following tasks:
Managing the team in the delivery of VAT advisory engagements and supporting partners with strategic vision of the department Undertaking in depth research on technical VAT queries and delivering reasoned analysis Producing written VAT advisory reports bespoke to our clients requirements Reviewing technical VAT advice prepared by junior team members Helping our clients manage VAT checks from HMRC Identifying and developing commercial opportunities, WIP control and billing procedures Developing pipeline via networking and business development activities
What experience do I need?
Whilst having the following experience is advantageous, we value passion and potential. If you meet the minimum criteria listed below and are eager to develop yourself, we would love to hear from you:
Significant experience of undertaking VAT advisory work in an accountancy practice (minimum criteria) Strong people management experience (minimum criteria) CTA qualified (indirect VAT route) would be beneficial Ability to identify VAT issues or risks and to quantify and communicate the solutions you would provide a client or prospect Real academic interest in VAT and Tax Passion for developing and nurturing lasting professional relationships Strong IT skills including proficiency in using Excel
