About the Role
Reporting directly to the MSO Bespoke Configuration Manager, the MSO Bespoke Vehicle Configuration Specialist is responsible for steered the delivery of MSO bespoke vehicles through [McLaren] business systems, turning Sales input into actionable data.
Key duties include:
- Assimilating inputs from business-wide departments
- Defining strategies for ensures first-time quality and the seamless delivery of MSO products
- Supporting MSO bespoke preparedness from launch
- Taking the lead on an upcoming vehicle programme
Responsibilities
Direct Enquiries & Quoting
- Attend and support bespoke enquiry meetings (both New Vehicle and Aftersales)
- Ensure customer requests are captured in sufficient detail
- Facilitate accurate MSO Sales quotations
Workflow & Order Coordination
- Release MSO new vehicle orders to Sales Planning for scheduling into production slots
- Manage mandatory requirements and phantom parts requests on the tracker
- Liaise directly with Sales, Purchasing, Logistics, Engineering, Workshop, and Production
- Translate customer requirements into detailed project specifications

Documentation & Technical Design
- Populate service orders and/or trackers with required operations and parts per SLA
- Create, define, and maintain technical drawings, configurable parts data in SAP
- Set up and maintain planning data in SAP for bespoke parts
Production Strategy & Compliance
- Oversee BoM (Bill of Materials) changes for bespoke specifications, including base specifications
- Liaise with Central Planning to ensure timely communication of MSO content
- Populate technical documentation for paint strategies, End of Line documents and PBM (Post Build Modification) strategies
Quality Assurance & Oversight
- Conduct quality checks on service orders prior to release
- Monitor RFT (Right First Time) logs and escalate risks to service order quality
- Support issue resolution, change management, containment and RCA (Root Cause Analysis)
Specialist Support Tasks
- Execute Post Build Modifications (ASM/PBM) improvements, ensuring strategies are clear and complete
- Develop bespoke content for vehicle series projects (lead technical expert)
- Create workflow packages/part templates for efficiency improvements
Requirements
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in proactiveness and a willingness to learn
- High attention to detail, particularly with data entry
- Exceptional service orientation for customers (internal/external)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings (assessed in interview)
- Interest in automotive technical elements of manufacturing
- Excellent Microsoft Office (excel/inclusively small nuances)

Desirable
- Knowledge of automotive interior/exterior systems, specifications, and manufacturing
- Experience with automation software (Macros, Power Automate/AI)
- familiarity with SAP
- Background in project coordination, or technical/administrative roles within automotive or manufacturing sectors
- Experience with bespoke luxury products production
- Degree or equivalent vocational experience in Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
Soft Skills
- Attention to detail for effective anomaly detection in parts lists and communication
- Comfort communicating with stakeholders across the business
- Capacity to prioritise tasks, work independently, and maintain responsiveness
