Our Grocery Service Centre, based near Liverpool, is a hub for transactional activity across multiple ABF companies within the ABF Grocery division. We deliver Shared Service activities across a wide range of disciplines including Customer Services, Consumer Care, Finance, Payroll, HR and IS.

  • Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off | Permanent Nights | 7:00pm – 7:00am
  • Salary: £51,246.21 per annum

Key Accountabilities

As a VMU Technician, you'll be responsible for keeping our fleet operating at peak performance by:

  • Carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on LGVs, trailers and associated equipment
  • Diagnosing faults efficiently and completing repairs to the highest standards
  • Ensuring all maintenance work complies with VOSA and legal requirements
  • Working closely with VMU Shift Leaders and Logistics teams to maximise vehicle availability
  • Delivering quality work safely and efficiently to support operational targets and KPIs
  • Following all health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Coordinating with approved subcontractors where required to ensure effective maintenance solutions
  • Contributing ideas and initiatives that support continuous improvement
  • Providing wider support across VMU activities as business needs require

The Right Person

Essential

  • City & Guilds qualification in LGV Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • LGV Category C+E Licence
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach
  • Commitment to safety, compliance and high-quality workmanship

Desirable

  • Previous experience within a fleet maintenance or transport environment
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced logistics operation
