Salary: £12.71 per hour Contract: Permanent (4-on, 4-off) Location: Audenshaw
What Does a Vehicle Make Ready Operative Do?
VMROs are the backbone of smooth ambulance operations. Your key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining ambulance readiness:
- Ensuring ambulances are clean, fully stocked, and operational before each shift.
- Following infection prevention and control policies to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Daily vehicle upkeep:
- Cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking equipment on/off ambulances.
- Conducting faulty equipment checks and reporting issues.
- Performing deep cleaning, refuelling, and routine maintenance.
- Stock and logistics:
- Reviewing and replenishing stock supplies as needed.
- Managing cleanliness of restroom facilities on-site.
- Safety and communication:
- Completing dynamic risk assessments for health and safety.
- Liaising with other stations as required.
- Adhering to vehicular damage reporting procedures.

Requirements
To apply, you must meet these essential criteria:
- The right to work in the UK without needing sponsorship.
- A UK manual driving licence held for at least 1 year, with no more than 6 points.

Essential:
✔ Physical fitness – The role can be physically demanding. ✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team. ✔ Basic computer and software literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office). ✔ Strong communication and interpersonal skills – always show respectful professionalism. ✔ Maths and literacy proficiency. ✔ Flexibility to meet operational demands.
Desirable:
✔ Prior knowledge of infection prevention and control practices in a healthcare setting.
