Are you passionate about maintaining clean, operational ambulances and contributing to life-saving healthcare environments? We’re looking for a Vehicle Make Ready Operative (VMRO) in Warrington—a role that ensures ambulances are fully stocked, clean, and ready to respond when needed.
The Role: Vehicle Make Ready Operative (VMRO)
Salary: £12.71 per hour Contract: Permanent (4 on, 4 off rota) Location: Warrington
What You’ll Do
As a VMRO, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our ambulances operational and clean. Your responsibilities include:

Vehicle Maintenance & Infection Control
- Clean and disinfect all equipment taken off ambulances, following Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards.
- Enforce strict protocols for ambulances transporting patients with infectious diseases.
- Perform daily inspections, removing faulty equipment and ensuring vehicles meet operational standards.

Preparation & Logistics
- Prepare ambulances for each shift, ensuring they are stocked, clean, and fully functional.
- Conduct regular equipment checks, request replacements as needed, and track inventory.
- Refuel vehicles as required and follow parking and rostering coordination rules.

Safety & Reporting
- Complete dynamic risk assessments, identifying and mitigating hazards.
- Report any damage or malfunctions to fleet managers immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness of restroom facilities and shared workspaces.

Administrative & Travel Responsibilities
- Log all tasks (mechanical checks, stock levels, incidents) in our systems.
- Occasional travel to other sites as part of rostered shifts.

- Perform any additional tasks consistent with the role’s scope.
Requirements
Before applying, ensure you meet these essential criteria:
✅ Right to Work in the UK – No sponsorship required. ✅ UK Manual Driving Licence – Held for 1+ year with no more than 6 points.
Key Skills & Qualities
We’re looking for candidates who can:
- Work independently (rotating shifts require self-motivation).
- Lift and move equipment safely (physically demanding duties).
- Communicate clearly (verbal and written) with colleagues and patients’ families.
- Adhere to IPC protocols (preferably with prior knowledge/experience).
- Use basic software (MS Office, inventory systems).
- Work flexibly to meet service demands.
- Demonstrate respect and professionalism in a diverse healthcare environment.
