Role Description

This full-time, on-site Vehicle Paint and Preparation Technician role is based at our facility in Exeter. The technician is responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces for paint, including sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning panels to ensure a high-quality finish.

  • Preparing vehicle surfaces for paint
  • Sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning panels
  • Mixing paints, applying primers and topcoats
  • Carrying out touch-ups and refinishing
  • Inspecting vehicles for defects
  • Following health and safety procedures
  • Maintaining equipment and work areas
  • Collaborating with other technicians
  • Documenting work completed
  • Adhering to quality control processes
  • Supporting a professional, efficient workshop environment

Qualifications

  • Experience with vehicle preparation tasks such as sanding, masking, priming, and panel cleaning.
  • Practical knowledge of paint mixing, color matching, and application techniques for automotive finishes.
  • Familiarity with workshop tools and equipment, including spray guns, sanding machines, and safety gear.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, technical data sheets, and quality standards with strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in an automotive or bodyshop setting.
  • Previous experience in automotive refinishing, bodyshop work, or a related trade is highly beneficial.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach to interacting with colleagues and customers.
  • Relevant vocational training or certification in automotive paint, body repair, or refinishing is an advantage.
