Location: Coventry, UK
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:35 | Friday: 08:00 - 15:10
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Vehicle Technical Advisor to join a specialist engineering team supporting advanced military vehicle programmes. This role is ideal for an experienced Master Technician, senior diagnostic technician, or vehicle engineering specialist who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working on highly specialised vehicle platforms. You'll play a key role in fault diagnosis, technical investigations and engineering support, helping maximise vehicle reliability and operational availability.
Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you'll provide technical expertise across mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle systems while supporting customers throughout the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and investigate complex mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle faults.
- Carry out detailed root cause investigations and develop effective technical solutions.
- Provide expert technical advice and engineering support to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Attend customer sites across mainland UK to support vehicle fault investigations.
- Produce clear technical reports detailing findings, recommendations and corrective actions.
- Analyse recurring faults to identify opportunities for product and reliability improvements.
- Support ongoing engineering programmes and maintenance activities when not engaged on customer support tasks.
- Assist with Level 1-3 vehicle maintenance activities across specialist vehicle platforms.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and diagnostic information.
- Liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The Person
The successful candidate will possess:
- Master Technician qualification, advanced vehicle diagnostics qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Extensive experience diagnosing complex faults across mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle systems.
- Strong background within automotive, heavy vehicle, military vehicle or specialist vehicle engineering.
- Proven ability to independently investigate and resolve technical issues.
- Excellent technical report writing and documentation skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Experience interpreting engineering documentation and diagnostic information.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience
- Experience working on protected mobility or military vehicle platforms.
- Previous military vehicle maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of specialist defence vehicle platforms.
- Experience supporting defence or government customers.
- Category C (HGV) driving licence.
