Salary: £39,027 - £44,463 per annum + 7.5% Shift Allowance
Additional Market Supplement of £5,000 per annum reviewed annually*

About the Role
Fleet Management Division are looking for a Vehicle Technician to help Thurrock Council maintain 155 vehicles, 61 of them are HGV vehicles, the rest comprises of small vans to caged tippers, plus over 500 pieces of plant + equipment.
You will be a key member of our team maintaining vehicles to the highest standard and carry out:
- Inspections of vehicles to “O” licence standards
- Preparing vehicles for MOT
- Vehicle condition reports
- Vehicle and plant servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Welding and fabrication
- Bodywork repairs
- Vehicle and plant recovery
- Maintaining statutory records
- Providing cover for seasonal events outside of core working hours
What We Are Looking For
As a qualified Vehicle Technician, the successful candidate will need to have:
- NVQ Level 3 heavy vehicles
- Class C LGV licence
- Minibus category D1 licence
- VOSA MOT Tester Qualification
- Knowledge of the application and practice of health & safety legislation within a vehicle maintenance and repair environment; including manual handling and COSHH awareness.
- Experience of diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a range of heavy and light commercial vehicles and plant equipment.
- Must supply own tools
You will be required to work 37 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern of 06:00 – 14:00 & 10:00 – 18:00.
