I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

In this role, you’ll interpret and apply technical service data, manufacturer bulletins, and complex circuitry diagrams to carry out diagnostics, repairs, and modifications to a high industry standard. You’ll also be responsible for accurately reporting findings, providing time and cost estimates, and communicating information clearly, whether verbally, in writing, or digitally.
A strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation within a busy heavy vehicle maintenance environment is essential, alongside a recognised qualification such as a City & Guilds Full Technological Certificate, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent experience.
This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English.
We value professionalism and integrity, including the ability to recognise and take appropriate action where discrimination occurs in the workplace or service delivery. This is a hands-on role requiring the physical capability to carry out repairs in both a large commercial workshop and outdoor settings, including moving and lifting heavy components.
