Grade 1 - 5 Technician
Location: Lookers Newcastle (Skoda, Seat, Cupra) Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: OTE up to £52,480 (uncapped), with basic pay between £28,000 – £43,000 (depending on qualifications), plus a £3,000 Productivity Bonus and Time Saved Bonus Scheme
Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), plus one in three Saturdays (8:30 am – 12:30 pm)
About the Role
We’re recruiting for a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join the Lookers Skoda Cupra workshop team.
You will work alongside experienced technicians, carrying out:
- Vehicle health checks using the latest technology
- Detailed vehicle servicing
- Mechanical and electrical repairs as required
You will report to the Aftersales Manager, who will provide ongoing support and equip you with the tools for success.

Key Responsibilities
- Conducting pre-delivery inspections on new and used vehicles
- Performing manufacturer-led checks and diagnostics
- Fitting customer-requested accessories
- Carrying out health checks and identifying further necessary work
- Testing vehicle lights, tyres, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Completing minor repairs on new and used vehicles
- Performing diagnosis of mechanical and electrical faults
- Conducting vehicle services in line with manufacturer and customer requirements
- Undertaking additional repairs following customer authorisation
- Managing warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
- Road-testing vehicles to confirm fault rectification
- Completing all paperwork to a high standard

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent experience)
- A full and valid UK driving licence
- Self-motivation, team support, and ambition to grow with us
- Ability to maintain high standards in vehicle technical work
While experience with specific brands is desirable, it is not essential—brand-specific training will be provided.
Desirable (non-essential) experience:
- Diagnostic training
- MOT testing
- Hybrid/Electric Vehicle (EV) maintenance
