Vehicle Technician – Bishop Stortford Land Rover

The Role
Location: Bishop Stortford Land Rover
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: OTE up to £52,480 (unlimited potential), £31,000–£46,000 basic salary, plus £3,000 Productivity Bonus and Time Saved Bonus Scheme
Hours: 40 hours per week between : Monday – Friday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with one in three Saturday mornings (shift specifics covered in induction).
Lookers Bishop Stortford Land Rover is recruiting a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join their growing workshop team. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, conducting vehicle health checks (using the latest technology), performing services, and repairs to ensure vehicles meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities
As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic at Bishop Stortford Land Rover, your primary focus will be to deliver extremely high-quality service by:
Vehicle Pre-Delivery & Inspections
- Conducting pre-delivery inspections on new and used vehicles
- Performing manufacturer-approved checks for readiness and compliance
- Identifying and documenting any further work required
Repairs & Maintenance
- Conducting a detailed vehicle health check, including:
- Light tests
- Tyre pressure checks
- Mechanical and electrical component assessments
- Completing minor repairs in line with manufacturer guidelines
- Basic automated diagnosis for both mechanical and electrical faults
- Road-testing repaired vehicles to ensure fault rectification
Customer & Warranty Services
- Performing vehicle servicing per manufacturer recommendations
- Automating warranty repairs in compliance with guidelines
- Completing necessary paperwork with consistency
Requirements
To excel in this role, you need to demonstrate:
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent qualification)
- Valid UK full driving licence
- Motor industry experience ( brand or non-brand specific)
- Self-motivated, with a focus on maintaining exceptional standards
Desirable (but not essential)
- Prior brand experience (training provided)? ✅
- Experience in diagnostics, MOT, or EV repairs
Salary Progression Scale:
- £28,000 (Racecar / Used prep tech) – £43,000 (Accredited Master Technician) (Basic salary varies; OTE includes performance bonuses)
