Salary
OTE up to £41,320 (uncapped), with a basic salary range of between £31,000 to £34,000 depending on qualifications. Additional benefits include:
- £3,000 Productivity Bonus
- Time Saved Bonus Scheme
Hours
40 hours per week, Monday–Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), with 1 in 3 Saturdays (8:30 am – 12:30 pm)
About the Role
Lookers Newcastle Volkswagen is recruiting for a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join their workshop. Working alongside experienced technicians, you will play a critical role in:
- Conducting vehicle health checks using the latest technology.
- Performing vehicle services.
- Carrying out repairs as needed.
As a Technician / Mechanic, you’ll report to the Aftersales Manager, who will provide ongoing support to ensure you have everything you need to succeed. We also offer excellent career progression and training opportunities, including:

Your role significantly impacts our success. As part of our Service team, you will deliver first-class customer service at every point of interaction.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out pre-delivery inspections on new and used vehicles.
- Following manufacturers’ guidelines during checks and repairs.
- Fitting additional accessories requested by customers.
- Conducting comprehensive vehicle health checks and reporting any further work required.
- Inspecting lights, tyre pressure, mechanical, and electrical components.
- Completing minor repairs on new and used vehicles.
- Performing basic diagnosis in both mechanical and electrical work.
- Conducting vehicle services as per manufacturers' guidelines and customer requests.
- Authorising and carrying out additional repairs as approved by the customer.
- Adhering to warranty repair guidelines and maintaining relevant documentation.
- Performing road tests to ensure all faults are rectified.
- Completing all paperwork to the required standards.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
- Full and valid UK driving licence.
- Minimum of a couple of years of experience in the motor industry (brand or non-brand).

Additional value:
- Experience with diagnostics, MOTs, or electric vehicles is desirable but not required.
- Previous brand-specific experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
