Our client is looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join their busy, well-established independent German vehicle specialist in Hitchin.
They are a family-run garage established in 1996, specialising in Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Skoda and other German vehicles, with dealer-level diagnostic equipment including ODIS, VCDS, ISTA and Autel. They are looking for a reliable, skilled and motivated Technician who takes pride in their work and can carry out repairs, servicing, diagnostics and MOT testing to a high standard.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out MOT tests, servicing, repairs, diagnostics and general mechanical work on a wide range of vehicles, with a strong focus on Volkswagen Audi Group models.

- Carrying out MOT tests to DVSA standards.
- Servicing and maintenance.
- Brakes, suspension, steering and clutch work.
- Timing belts, water pumps and general mechanical repairs.
- Diagnostic work using dealer-level and aftermarket tools.
- Fault finding and repair on electrical and mechanical systems.
- Completing work accurately and efficiently.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and cleanliness.
- Working as part of a busy workshop team.
- Liaising with the Workshop Controller / Service Advisor where required.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A valid MOT Tester licence.
- Strong mechanical experience.
- Good diagnostic ability.
- Experience working on German vehicles preferred.
- Own tools.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Pride in producing clean, accurate and professional work.
- A reliable and positive attitude.

- Salary between £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience.
