Key Information
- Salary: £35,412 - £38,220 (per annum)
- Hours per week: 37
- Contract type: Permanent
- Working arrangements: On-site, 4-day shift with a rolling day off

- Must provide reasonable explanation for any extended stays (6+ months within the last 3 years abroad)

About the Role
We’re recruiting for an experienced Senior Vehicle Technician within Fleet Services, based at Smithies Lane Depot’s repair workshop.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct preventative inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs across a diverse council fleet, including:
- Cars
- Refuse collection vehicles (up to 26T)
- Ensure exceptional quality, accountability, and flawless compliance with deadlines/health & safety standards.
- Act as a decision informant, by gathering and delivering data-driven management insights—balancing financial and operational demands within a dynamic, fast-paced environment focused on an EV transition strategy.
- Mentor and guide colleagues and trainees to uphold and promote our value-driven culture.
- Collaborate across departments and partners to drive sustainable development in the Borough.
Person Profile & Requirements
Experience and skills in:
- Expert vehicle mechanics with solid knowledge of fleet-specific applications.
- Technical abilities for manual and diagnoses of diverse vehicle types.
- Ability to document, present accurate reports, and communicate thoroughly with management.
- Commitment and opportunity to safeguard student/employee career development through structured training.
