Responsibilities

As a growing company, we work with some of the UK’s most recognised names, including Thames Water, Openreach, UKPN, Cadent, SGN, Enterprise, and the AA. Now, with the expansion of our business, we’re excited to recruit a skilled Vehicle Technician to join our workshop in Wickford.

  • Communicate effectively with the admin team and customers to discuss required repairs.
  • Estimate repair timelines and provide accurate expectations.
  • Inspect vehicles thoroughly to diagnose necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform repairs or replace components as needed to ensure vehicles are in excellent working condition.
  • Conduct road tests to verify the quality of repair work or diagnose additional issues.
  • Install and service vehicle accessories, such as parking sensors, cameras, tow bars, and reverse cameras.
  • Carry out comprehensive vehicle system safety checks and servicing tasks.
  • Execute routine maintenance, including oil and air filter changes, brake replacements, clutch repairs, gearbox adjustments, suspension work, and diagnostics.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and extend equipment longevity.
  • Perform quality control checks on all completed work, ensuring high standards are met and providing feedback as necessary.
  • Visit off-site locations when required, ensuring safety protocols are followed to prioritize personal and team well-being.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to the role.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure that all activities are undertaken with consideration of your own and other colleagues Health and Safety.
  • Control approximately any substances that fall under COSHH Regulations such as oils, lubricating agents, cleaning agents.
  • Manage own H&S items such as Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments & Safety Data Sheets as well as First Aid items.

Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Plant & Vehicle Fitting experience is required for this position.
  • Full valid Driving Licence with 6 points or less.
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualifications.
  • Maintain any required professional qualifications.
  • Conduct yourself in a manner that protects the corporate image and integrity.

Person Specification

  • Problem solving ability/initiative.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Be self-driven and proactive.
