About Gloucester City Council

We are a dynamic local authority providing essential services to the people of Gloucester. Our main office, based in the Eastgate Centre on Eastgate Street in the heart of the city, is an accessible, modern, and light space designed for collaborative working and finding new ways to work. It's all open plan, with a living green wall and other plants without set desks, so you can sit next to someone new every day.

We're always looking to improve how we work and we offer flexible and agile working to give our people a great work-life balance.

About the Role

Are you an experienced Venue Technician or Sound Engineer? If so, there’s never been a more exciting time to join the Guildhall team!

As the Venue Technician, you will be at the heart of our dynamic cultural programme, which features a mix of live music, comedy, film, dance, circus, and immersive experiences. You will collaborate closely with our Technical Team Leader, Senior Programmers, and operational team to ensure the seamless execution of all technical aspects of our events.

You will have the opportunity to work on both in-house productions and touring shows, maintaining the highest standards of quality.

In this role, you will typically work 3-4 shifts a week as Venue Technician in our events space, which means evening and weekend work is part of the excitement of live events. The rest of your time will be dedicated to supporting the venue’s needs, including cinema operations, room hires, and logistical planning for incoming productions and visiting artists.

While your primary base will be at Gloucester Guildhall, your expertise will also be invaluable in supporting the technical needs and opportunities within the wider cultural service including Festivals & events and the Museum of Gloucester.

What We Need from You

We are looking for a Venue Technician that specialises in live sound.

You will bring your professional experience in providing technical support in a live events environment, with a strong understanding of both technical specialisms. You will have experience of working at height and have sound knowledge of health and safety in a live event environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
