Verification Analyst
Account Receivables Verification Specialist
Position Summary
A highly motivated team of 25 manages all aspects of Account Receivables (AR), including:
- Credit limit management
- Order release
- Collecting outstanding monies
- Verification of claims
- eCommerce back-office
- Account reconciliations
- Cash allocations
Focus areas: Collections, ageing profiles, and query turnaround times. Works closely with the Risk Management team and reports to the Director of Financial Operations.
The role is busy but varied, with each day offering different challenges. The team prides itself on challenging the status quo and prioritising learning and development.
Role and Responsibilities
Key Objectives
- Achieve or exceed Samsung’s key performance indicators (KPIs):
- Debt > 32 days ≤ 0.07%
- Debt 16–32 days ≤ 0.07%
- Verify all claims within agreed timescales.
Day-to-Day Duties
- Handle customer ledgers (large corporates, retailers, distributors, service centres, small SMEs) and verify claims with all relevant backup documentation.
- Resolve disputes where customers incorrectly claim entitlements.
- Work closely with the Collections team in AR and other related teams to align claim validations with AR ledger requirements and customer ageing profiles.
- Build strong relationships with:
- Key departments (e.g., Offshore Teams, Account Managers)
- AR / Commercial Finance teams
- Customers (attend client meetings; provide first-class service)
- Obtain sell-out/stock data for verification purposes.
- Verify sales deduction promotions, ensuring claims are supported by signed commercial terms and deal sheets.
- Enter claims into SAP (via Shared Service Centre or self, depending on claim type), track approvals, and keep customers updated.
- Validate claims timely and accurately, resolving disputes and sharing progress with Account Managers and Collectors.
- Maintain a central database of verified claims, updating the balance sheet and requesting accruals/top-ups.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Finance team on changes to payment conditions.
- Participate in process improvements across departments/functions.

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential
- 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English), plus 3 A Levels or Honours Degree (or equivalent professional experience).
- Accounting/Financial Operations experience, preferably in a large corporate environment.
- Soft skills:
- Target-driven, organised, and efficient with strong attention to detail.
- Good customer service skills.
- Sense of humour and ability to multitask.
- Experience in collections and query management (ideally with sales deductions).
- Experience working within a large team environment.
- Hard skills/experience:
- Desirably qualified or partly qualified Accountant (not mandatory).
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLookups, Pivot Tables, Macros).
What Success Looks Like
- Quick integration into a lively, interactive team with a self-motivated mindset.
- Within 6–12 months, expectations include:
- Building strong customer relations.
- Managing a portfolio of claims effectively.
- Aligning with team KPIs (e.g., claims TAT, ledger ageing).
- Positive feedback from internal and external customers.
Responsibilities Reminder
Daily/weekly tasks revolve around:
- Validating customer claims (using data and systems).
- Ensuring claims align with customer terms and deadlines.
- Keeping relationships strong and balance sheets verified.
