Verification & Validation Engineer

Why Rolls-Royce?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Verification & Validation Engineer to join the Defence team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Rolls-Royce has sufficient technical oversight for our products to meet business, customer, and regulatory requirements.
You will also serve as the point of contact within the project and to our customers, supporting the team regarding Systems Engineering, Validation and Verification activities while driving the appropriate V&V behaviours within the project.
What You Will Be Doing
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Developing a product verification strategy, structured verification plan, Product Development Plan, and Standardisation reports for the MT30 programmes across the UK, Australia, Asia, and Canada.
- Defining test requirements to validate hardware in areas including:
- Shock
- Sea ways motion
- Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical resistance (NBC resistance)
- Ensuring data from Validation and Verification activities is used to:
- Drive the engineering programme schedule
- Remove technical risk
- Establishing and managing an appropriate R-E-D-V (Requirements, Design Rationale Evidence, Design Definition, and Verification Information) structure that connects information across:
- Customer, Business, System, Sub-System, and Component areas in the project
- Managing the creation of substantiation evidence, clearance/acceptance documentation meeting the project's demands
- Extracting Manufacturing/Installation/Test and Commissioning requirements from engineering teams
- Liaising with shipbuilders to manage interfaces and ensure the execution of testing as necessary

Essential Qualifications and Experiences
- Degree-level qualification in Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
- A Systems Engineering mindset
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to:
- Interpret and synthesise complex information
- Good communication skills, including:
- Presentation skills
- Report writing skills
Desired Qualities
- Experience in a relevant domain, such as:
- Naval
- Aerospace
- Defence
- Understanding of PMIE (Project Management in Engineering)
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Deliver high-stakes projects under pressure
- Experience in managing relationships with external engineering companies
