Vessel Operator (Post Fixture) - Tanker Vessels

Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom
Working pattern: Office-based

We are seeking an experienced Vessel Operator (Post Fixture) to join our Operations Department in Glasgow, supporting a fleet of Chemical, CPP and DPP Tankers.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Vessel Operator or a Chief Mate on tankers looking to transition ashore. Candidates with a combination of sea-going and shore-based operational experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and commercially effective execution of tanker voyages from fixture through to completion, ensuring compliance with charter party requirements while working closely with Owners, Charterers, Brokers, Masters, Port Agents, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operational execution of assigned tanker voyages from fixture through to completion.
  • Liaise with Owners, Charterers, Brokers, Masters, Port Agents, and Terminals to ensure efficient voyage execution.
  • Coordinate cargo operations, including cargo planning, tank preparation, tank cleaning, and cargo compatibility.
  • Arrange bunkering operations and monitor vessel schedules, voyage performance, and operational costs.
  • Ensure compliance with charter party terms and assist with freight, hire, demurrage, and operational claims.
  • Manage EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime requirements, including emissions monitoring, reporting, and cost recovery.
  • Support vessel performance monitoring, voyage optimisation, and emissions reduction initiatives.
  • Work closely with Technical, Crewing, and HSEQ departments to ensure effective planning and communication.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational procedures and systems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
