Vessel Operator (Post Fixture) - Tanker Vessels
Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom
Working pattern: Office-based
We are seeking an experienced Vessel Operator (Post Fixture) to join our Operations Department in Glasgow, supporting a fleet of Chemical, CPP and DPP Tankers.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Vessel Operator or a Chief Mate on tankers looking to transition ashore. Candidates with a combination of sea-going and shore-based operational experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and commercially effective execution of tanker voyages from fixture through to completion, ensuring compliance with charter party requirements while working closely with Owners, Charterers, Brokers, Masters, Port Agents, and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operational execution of assigned tanker voyages from fixture through to completion.
- Liaise with Owners, Charterers, Brokers, Masters, Port Agents, and Terminals to ensure efficient voyage execution.
- Coordinate cargo operations, including cargo planning, tank preparation, tank cleaning, and cargo compatibility.
- Arrange bunkering operations and monitor vessel schedules, voyage performance, and operational costs.
- Ensure compliance with charter party terms and assist with freight, hire, demurrage, and operational claims.
- Manage EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime requirements, including emissions monitoring, reporting, and cost recovery.
- Support vessel performance monitoring, voyage optimisation, and emissions reduction initiatives.
- Work closely with Technical, Crewing, and HSEQ departments to ensure effective planning and communication.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational procedures and systems.

Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:

- Previous experience as a Vessel Operator or Post Fixture Operator within the tanker shipping industry.
- OR
- Sailing experience as a Chief Mate on tankers.
- A combination of sea-going and shore-based experience would be an advantage.
You will also have:
- A strong understanding of tanker operations and post-fixture voyage execution.
- Knowledge of charter parties, EU ETS, and FuelEU Maritime.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
