Fixed-Term or Part-Time Small Animal Veterinarian (Independent Practice)
We are seeking a capable and experienced small animal veterinarian to join our independent practice, working closely alongside our Principal Veterinary Surgeon.
Role Overview
A 30–40 hour per week fixed rota (including occasional evenings and some Saturday mornings), covering consultations and surgeries. The primary focus is on dogs and cats, with contributions expected for small mammals, birds, and reptiles. Occasional home visits may arise, and we welcome applications for consult-only or term-time-only positions to suit availability.
Responsibilities
- Carry out clinical consultations, diagnosis, and treatment for small animal patients (primarily canine and feline), including:
- General medicine and surgery
- Routine & emergency care
- Welfare assessments and health advice
- Participate in scheduled surgical procedures under supervision
- Contribute to education and support for small exotics (birds, reptiles, small mammals)
- Balance a mix of in-surgery and consulting hours per week, including designated weekend commitments
- Adhere to best practice protocols, ensuring a client-centred and compassionate approach

Requirements
- Full-time RCVS membership required
- Minimum 4 years post-qualification veterinary experience
- Currently registered and practicing in the UK
- Alignment with our small-animal focused caseload
- Equable temperament for both clinical work and occasional home visits (no after-hours duty)

Salary & Benefits
- £60,000 – £70,000 per annum direct, dependent on experience
- Flexible engagement terms (consult-only, term-time or standard hours)
