Minster Veterinary Centre’s Southwell practice offers modern facilities including three consulting rooms, two operating theatres, and digital X-ray capabilities. The practice serves as the base for all farm and equine veterinarians, supporting a diverse caseload across companion animals, livestock, and horses. Team members work in a collaborative environment with access to a wide range of diagnostic and surgical resources. The centre is committed to high-quality clinical care and supportive client service, providing veterinarians with opportunities to develop skills across multiple species and practice areas.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Veterinarian role based in Melton Mowbray. The veterinarian will provide clinical care across consultations, diagnostics, and surgery for small animals, and may support farm and equine work as required.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:


Get help with your application

- Performing physical examinations
- Interpreting lab and imaging results
- Developing treatment plans
- Carrying out routine and complex procedures
- Ensuring accurate medical records
The role involves regular client communication, including:
- Explaining diagnoses and treatment options
- Offering preventive care advice
- Supporting follow-up and continuity of care
The veterinarian will collaborate with veterinary nurses and other team members to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care, while contributing to practice protocols and clinical standards.
Qualifications
- Veterinary degree (MRCVS or equivalent) and eligibility for registration with the RCVS.
- Solid clinical skills in small animal medicine and surgery; experience with farm and/or equine cases is an advantage.
- Strong diagnostic abilities, including use of imaging, laboratory tests, and clinical examination to guide treatment.
- Excellent communication and client-care skills, with the ability to explain clinical information clearly and build trust.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
- Good organizational skills, including accurate record keeping, time management, and adherence to practice protocols.
- Commitment to animal welfare, ethical practice, and ongoing professional development through CPD.
- Flexibility to participate in rota-based hours and occasional out-of-hours or weekend work as required.
