Veterinary Receptionist

Receptionist – Full-Time (Fixed-Term, 6-Month Contract)

We are seeking an organised, personable Receptionist to join our team at Mill House Veterinary Surgery, offering:

  • 24-hour hospitalisation
  • Advanced emergency care from a single site
  • Cutting-edge facilities: CT scans, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and multi-parameter monitors for general anaesthesia
  • Support for students and new graduates with mentorship and training opportunities
  • RCVS Practice Standards Scheme awards (6 distinctions)
  • Cat-friendly practice with separate wards and waiting areas

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Receptionist, you’ll be the first point of contact for clients, ensuring a welcoming, professional, and compassionate experience. You’ll play a key role in:

  • Supporting smooth practice operations by managing appointments, enquiries, and communications
  • Collaborating with both clinical and non-clinical colleagues
  • Enhancing client and patient journeys with efficiency and care

Working Pattern

  • Full-time role (40 hours per week)
  • Fixed-term contract (6 months)

Key Responsibilities

  • Answering the telephone promptly and professionally
  • Dealing with or redirecting enquiries efficiently
  • Booking and managing appointments
  • Registering new clients and maintaining records
  • Accurately inputting information into the IT system
  • Handling cash and processing credit/debit card and cheque payments
  • Maintaining reception and waiting room cleanliness and organisation
